2. Lily Price (AUS), 58.02

3. Tessa Giele (NED), 59.58

Walsh on her double: "I feel good. I'm proud of myself for doing a double like that, and I've really enjoyed the opportunity to do a semifinal experience in the 100 fly. I think it's really good preparation for me, and I was really proud that I was able to go faster from prelims to semis to finals. Plus, I dropped in my 50 free from the morning as well."

Walsh on women she looks up to: "Obviously, my mom and my sister are the biggest I can think of, and even my grandmas are both such inspirations for me. I feel like they are both very strong, willed women. I think that our family lineage is something that I'm really proud to represent. Also, after watching the Milan winter Olympics, I'm definitely feeling really inspired by the women's hockey team, a bunch of the female skiers out there, and ice skaters. It was really cool to watch that and it has got me super excited for the LA 2028 Games."

I'm definitely use to the Pro Series being three days, and not having to deal with that semi in the breast, but pretty good overall for my first meet back with training under my dad. Definitely had some good swims since I went two 27.0's."

Andrew on the new TYR Pro Swim Series format: "For me, I think yes. Semis I felt good, and I felt like I had more in the tank to go under a minute. Then I got to the final day and it hurt really bad, especially in the last 20 (meters). I'm really glad you get a big block of work done in February so that moving forward I'm going to feel the dividends from that the whole rest of the summer."

Foster on staying positive: "What a joy it is to do swimming as my job. I'm lucky and sometimes I complain about it, but I look at the big picture and I'm doing something that kids do in the summer for fun as a way to get paid. It's easy to stay joyful if you remember that."

Day 1 Results: March 4, 2026

Women's  800m Freestyle - FINAL

1. Katie Ledecky (Bethesda, Md./Gator Swim Club), 8:08.57

2. Summer McIntosh (CAN), 8:10.45

3. Maria Fernanda Costa (BRA), 8:29.41

Ledecky on her training and personal travel: "Training has been going well. It's been an interesting couple months for me. I swam in Austin in January and then was home in Gainesville for a few days before going to North Dakota. My grandma turned 100, so we celebrated that day with her. I then went back to Gainesville and sadly my grandma passed about two weeks after her birthday, so I went back out to North Dakota. A little more travel than I would have expected these last two months. As tough has it's been, it's nice to get a lot of really good family time and that's been helpful."

Training with her  11-year-old cousin: "One of my cousins is 11 years old, he's on the Aquajets in Minnesota. He came with me for a couple of practices, along with my brother. I wrote them a practice that they did together while I did my workout.  I've  been training through the past few months and getting some really great work in with our group in Gainesville."

Smith on her race: "I've been doing a lot of good backstroke sets in practice. Going into today,  knew how I wanted the race to feel rhythmically and how I wanted to approach each 50...I had a goal for that this morning and this afternoon and I was pretty spot on for both swims. It was nice to have a pretty accurate goals for what I ended up doing. It was a good learning experience. I'm excited to keep approaching races that way."

Andrew on his race: "Honestly, it felt cleaner this morning. I think the front half, I knew I  needed to be a lot faster off the blocks. I think I rushed the tempo a little bit but I found my groove in the end. I think the trick was knowing that those guys were going to be close. I just have to swim my own race. All-in-all, I'm really happy. That's faster than all the swims I did last year. Given the big move and new life changes, I feel like we're moving in the right direction and we got a lot to work on."

I was very worried about it going into the meet, but I was happy with the 200 breast and put together a pretty good 100 free. It helped I only had to be top eight to make finals tomorrow.
